If you're not the too-adventurous type, you will likely miss out on the great hidden and not-so-hidden spots in the Philippines. Going to Batangas' southern shores just because it's the closest and most familiar spot to us isn't the greatest of reasons why we shouldn't check out places like Patar's beaches in Pangasinan's Bolinao. The beach may not be as fine as Boracay's (heck, there are plenty of places with such fine beaches here, we're just mentioning that beach since it's the most familiar to visitors to the country), but it sure makes up for it with its isolated and untouched feel.
It's in Bolinao and the Hundred Islands marine park, so we should expect this place to be clean of human waste lest there are pasaways out there. It's a 4 to 5 hour trip up north and this place is reachable by bus (or even taxi if you're willing to shell out about PhP 5,000). There are plenty of other side trips to be made like Bolinao's churches, caves, reef sites and more, so don't miss those out. We'll leave you to visit Manileno's website for the full details of getting there, who to contact, and what else you can see there! Happy tripping!
